WhyHunger HungerthonTom Petty Tribute
Musicians to pay tribute to Tom Petty at  WhyHunger Benefit at Acoustic Café Nov. 19th

As part of the annual WhyHunger Hungerthon fundraising campaign, the Acoustic Cafe Music Series in Park Ridge returns to host  a Nov. 19 benefit concert that will also serve as a tribute to the late Tom Petty. Artists will include Jeffrey Gaines, Richard Barone, Joe D'Urso w/ Seth Saltzman, Don Dilego, Isabella Rose, Christopher Brown w/ Peter Calo, Bobby Mahoney and the Annalyse & Ryan duo.

WhyHunger, the organization founded in 1975 by the late singer/songwriter Harry Chapin and Bill Ayers, enlists performing artists to raise funds and awareness for the most innovative and effective community-based organizations fighting hunger and poverty all across the world. Through music we can all make a difference in the world!

Jeffrey Gaines has been heralded for his soul-searching lyrics and his powerful live performances. With only his voice and a guitar for accompaniment he has earned a reputation as a captivating performer, entertaining audiences everywhere he goes. The Boston Globe declared that “Gaines’ soulful, wounded vocals make a case for his being one of pop’s finest singers…an artist who deserves far more attention than some of his more hyped, yet less talented peers.”

Richard Barone is an acclaimed recording artist, producer and author. Since pioneering the indie rock scene as frontman for The Bongos, Barone has produced and worked with artists in every musical style. His latest CD is Sorrows and Promises: Greenwich Village in the 1960s.

Joe D’Urso's fierce independence, dynamic stage presence and altruistic nature have led him down a road less traveled, being on the Board of Directors for Why Hunger and The Light of Day Foundation and presenter of the Rockland/Bergen Music Festival. With his roots/rock band, Stone Caravan, Joe has released 13 CDs.

No Depression Magazine has said indie/folk artist Don DiLego “is quickly becoming the ‘Next Big Thing’ in the Americana-Indie-Folk scene.”
