One of our perennial favorites, Joe Crookston returns to our House Concert Series for a special Friday evening show.
Joe Crookston is a songwriter, guitarist, painter, fiddler, slide guitar player, eco-village member and believer in all things possible. He was named 2016 Folk Alliance International Artist-in-Residence.
If you've never seen a Joe Crookston show, he’ll surprise you and awaken the cynic in you. He plumbs for lyrical gold like a social archeologist. His songs are universal, his rhythm infectious and in concert, he is funny as hell one moment and transcendent the next. Most of all HE BELIEVES IN STORIES. At the end of the night, you’ll leave inspired.
“Joe is one of THE most exciting performers out there today. Smart, funny, accomplished, passionate…magnetic….he enthralls and uplifts people in a way few other artists can. Really…I have been at this a long, long time….and I rarely see this combination in a young artist. This is an artist that is being propelled forward via the Folk-DJs, word of mouth, grassroots…his fans telling friends…a real buzz, not manufactured hype. It is very exciting to be working with an artist like Joe: they don’t come along all that often.”
- David Tamulevich, Tamulevich Artist Management
“At every festival I hope to find the gift of one artist whose songwriting and performance stand out. Joe Crookston was that gift for me this year at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Stunning performance, great songs, and not a word wasted! I LOVE That!”
- David Francey, Songwriter, Ontario
“Joe Crookston is decidedly one of today's standout troubadours.”
- Roots Music Examiner
Joe captured the audience from the opening seconds, and held them spellbound throughout the show. His show at the Kitchener Theatre was perhaps the finest concert I’ve presented in 16 years.”
