ABOUT OUR ELECTIONS:
Along with the usual music and merrymaking we will hold our annual election of the Board of Directors and Officers for the Executive Board.
Our Vice President Scoot Horton will be stepping down this year from his role, which is open for nominations. While all positions on the Board of Directors are open to nominations annually, the roles of President, Treasurer and Secretary are still being secured by George Gierer, Tom Morgan and Karen Hudson, respectively.
You may nominate someone else for these positions, but there isn’t an immediate need.
There are also several board member positions available on the Executive Board. We hope to meet those of you who have fresh ideas—members who are interested in facilitating or creating programs to advance the mission of Tribes Hill of creating a collaborative music community. Musicians, music aficionados, people with non-profit volunteer experience, grant writing, workshop coordination, legal expertise, concert promotion, social media experience are welcome, but none of the above skills are required to be nominated, only the interest in promoting our non-profit group for a term. All board positions require a commitment of attending four board meetings a year voting on programming and expenditures, bringing ideas, leading committees.
Board membership or being an executive officer of Tribes Hill is a unique opportunity in the nonprofit sector. As a musician or patron you gain exposure to a longstanding and vibrant music community with multiple opportunities for artistic engagement. As a volunteer, our organization’s completely volunteer structure affords maximum flexibility and welcomes creative projects and participation from all of its constituents.
NOMINATIONS AT THE MEETING:
If you would like to nominate another member, for either Vice President or an Executive Board member position, they need to be present at the event for you to nominate them.
Our Board meetings are a great way to get a sense of how Tribes Hill operates, and could help a person decide to run for an officer position next year.
We are a fun loving bunch, catching up over spaghetti pot luck dinner on a Monday night in Westchester, and then we get down to business—committed to the advancement of Tribe’s Hill’s mission.
VICE PRESIDENT'S BASIC DUTIES:
• The Vice President will perform all duties and exercise all powers of the President when the President is absent or otherwise unable to act.
• Attend four Executive Board meetings a year
• Support our concert series either by volunteering to set up, promote by social media and web, and word of mouth.
Nominations will be made and election held during the membership meeting at the picnic on June 10th.
We look forward to seeing you!
