Jen Chapin and Joe D’Urso have been heavily involved with Why Hunger, the organization founded in 1975 (as World Hunger Year) by the late  singer/songwriter Harry Chapin, Tom Chapin’s older brother and Jen’s father. Why Hunger enlists performing artists to raise funds and awareness for the most innovative and effective community-based organizations fighting hunger and poverty on the frontlines in cities, towns and villages all across the world.  Through music we can all make a difference in the world!

Jen Chapin performs urban folk and soul. Critics have hailed her work as “brilliant.. soulfully poetic” (NPR), “thoughtful … worth-savoring” (People), “addictive” (Boston Globe)

Joe D’Urso’s music runs the gamut from singer/songwriter to rock n roll with his band Stone Caravan. It’s “ passionate, vibrant and filled with great stories.” says  Bill Ayres, executive director of WHY Hunger.

KJ Denhert’s special blend of urban folk & jazz has earned her four Independent Music Award nominations and in ’09, she was named as one of’s top female vocalists.

Anthony D’Amato’s music is a literate brand of heavy-hearted folk shot through with electric streaks of rock and roll. NPR calls his new CD, The Shipwreck from the Shore, “Warm and magnetic...a modern folk gem"
