The Towne Crier is pleased to present Sharkey & The Sparks in their first ever FULL BAND SHOW featuring Sharkey McEwen — well known to music lovers throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond as the lead guitarist of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams — Ben McEwen, Sharkey’s teenage son, and for this special event, a very select group of talented musical guests.
Sharkey & The Sparks made their duo debut in 2017. The father and son guitar slingers had previously played music together at home for fun. But once Sharkey invited his talented young protégé to join him on stage and perform in public, the “sparks” began to fly, and Sharkey & The Sparks was born.
Fueled by their mutual passion for this classic era in popular music, The Sharkey & The Sparks Band will be performing beloved covers from the ’60s, ’70s and beyond (Beatles, Beach Boys, early Fleetwood Mac, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Dick Dale, Tom Petty and U2, to name a few) along with S&S originals.
With The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Sharkey has headlined major music festivals across the US, Canada and UK. His intuitive, evocative playing is a key ingredient of the band’s magic.
